Melbourne Cup Day!

It was an honour for Judith Penak Couture to be invited to the Myer Fashion on the Field Professional Designers Award for the 5th year in a row. It was an absolute privilege to be involved along with the 50 other entrees. Each design had its own unique taste and character.
This green and orange race wear design was our entry and we received many compliments and lots of praise from the public for its unique, eye catching design.
The Melbourne Cup is an event that stops the nation and we were so lucky to have such perfect weather.
With over 100,000 people attending this event, it made it a truly incredible experience.
I’d like to thank Vanne Pham from Babydolls Makeup, Hair dresser & stylists Peter Gioutsos, Andrea Augusta Jewellery Designer, our beautiful model Yanna Portnoy, Lynette Patter Fashion Stylist, Miliner Margarette Addis, Zerin Jai Osman from Lemon Jelly Photography and Jo-Anne Rofle from Vinatge Design.
Congratulations to Oscar Calvo, winner of the Myer Fashion on the Fields Designer Awards, as well as horse trainer Gai Waterhouse for winning her first Melbourne Cup.

Melbourne Cup - Fashion on the Field

Since 2007, Judith Penak Couture (formally know as Black Rose) has been involved in the Melbourne Cup's Fashion on the Field event.

The Melbourne Cup is Australia's major thoroughbred horse race
Marketed as "the race that stops a nation", the Melbourne Cup was first held in 1861 and is one of the richest turf races in the world.
Fashions On The Field' is a major focus of the day, with substantial prizes awarded for the best-dressed man and woman. The requirement for elegant hats, and more recently the alternative of a fascinator, almost single-handedly keeps Melbourne's milliners in business.

Raceday fashion has occasionally drawn almost as much attention as the race itself.  Flowers, especially roses are an important component of the week's racing at Flemington. The racecourse has around 12,000 roses within its large expanse.
The Victoria Racing Club’s (VRC) Fashions on the Field competition was instigated in 1962 and forms part of the Club's ‘Fashions, Flowers and Favourites’ promotion to ‘woo more women to the races’.

Fashions on the Field has quickly captured the imagination of the public. It is covered extensively in the press and has grown rapidly in popularity.

Little did the VRC organising committee realise at the time that its new marketing initiative would change the nature of racing forever.

A new name, a new era, a new fantasy...

A new era has begun for Black Rose. We have grown and improved into a more extensive and finer brand and are now known as Judith Penak Couture!
Gowns are like a unique, individual one off piece of art or statue. They wake up our fantasies of being surrounded by beauty, happiness and motivate us to open up the depths of our souls and express our inner beauty, allowing our physical beauty to shine. This is the true vision of the Haute Couture of Judith Penak Couture.
Couture—what is couture? If you ask this question, you bet your bottom dollar that someone is bound to say ‘expensive fashion’. Many think this way because the word 'couture' is mostly heard being used in high end fashion runways or on shows such as The Next Top Model. People automatically attach a label of ‘unaffordable’ to the thought of a couture outfit.
But what actually is the definition of couture? It is the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client's specific requirements and measurements. ‘Specific requirements’ can also include your specific budget.
Here at Judith Penak Couture, we can create your dream couture outfit for any type of socioeconomic status. Whatever your budget—we can do it.
